Le Passe temps

Calling all of you fine diners! Pay close attention, as we head off to find out all about Le Passe Temps, the new place to eat at the heart of Lyon’s sixth arrondissement...

Le Passe Temps is all about modern, creative and refined dining, featuring audacious food combinations, and all constructed with technical perfection. And with good reason! After studying hotel and restaurant management in his native Korea, the restaurant's owner and head chef Younghoon Lee moved to France, where he graduated top of his class at the Paul Bocuse cookery school.

The chef opened his restaurant in 2014. It serves seasonal cuisine, essentially French but with frequent hints of Korean influence, like his stir-fried foie gras with little vegetables in stock.

The set menu changes on a weekly basis and the restaurant offers an excellent choice of accompanying wine. The decor is attractive, minimalist and contemporary, and the service is discreet yet welcoming.
The presentation of the dishes is simply exceptional.

Daniel et Denise

The city of Lyon is revered the world over for its cuisine. Daniel et Denise is a typical example of its famous bouchon restaurants, and the ideal place to discover some of Lyon’s finest specialities.

In 2004, Chef Joseph Viola was awarded the prestigious title of Meilleur Ouvrier de France, equivalent to France’s chef of the year. At the same time, he took over from Daniel Léron – who had won the same accolade in 1976 – as the head chef at Daniel et Denise.

The menu remains faithful to regional produces, bringing the flavours of mythical dishes from a bygone age back to the fore. The atmosphere is welcoming and the decor very traditional: round-bodied wine glasses atop checkered table cloths on wooden tables, ceramic tiling, retro chairs and a collection of copper saucepans hanging from the walls.

Address: 156 rue de Créqui, 69003 Lyon

Les apothicaires

Let's explore the hype surrounding one of Lyon’s newest restaurants: Les Apothicaires. In order to do so, it’s off to Rue de Sèze in the trendy sixth arrondissement where Tabata Mey, a former contestant on the TV series Top Chef, recently opened the establishment alongside husband Ludovic.

This exceptional restaurant offers a pleasantly affordable set menu for lunch, for either €20 or €24. This rises to €39 or €50 for the dinner menu.
